Anti-vandal Series
Urriarra East, Canberra
ACT Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) in conjunction with ACT Parks planned an upgrade for a passive recreation area at Uriarra Crossing, west of Canberra, near the confluence of the Murrumbidgee and Cotter Rivers, a pristine and environmentally sensitive area
ACT Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS)
The upgrade was to cater for expansion of Canberra along the Uriarra corridor, with a forecast of an increase of thirty thousand residents in the next ten years.

The site had no pressurised water, and no sewer service. The client specified a water carriage (flush) system. Pureablue worked with the client to develop such a system, including the specification of a header water tank, (capacity and elevation), and the waste harvest/storage system. This waste system had to comply with AS1546.1 (2008), have sufficient capacity with redundancy. The possibility of a surcharge of black water adjacent to a water way had to be reduced to zero.

Pureablue collaborated with the client to establish the best possible configuration of the toilet booths to cater for the proposed day only use. People with Disabilities (PWD), extended family groups, dog walkers, bush walkers and coach day visitors - all activities were catered for. The toilet facility configuration settled on was:

  • A unisex accessible booth, with mandatory basin and an integrated urinal.
  • Qty two ambulant booths
  • Qty two standard booths
  • A family change room, with basin, low pan and adjacent
  • bench and baby change table.

All these booths accommodated in two parallel Conablue CAB 3 structure, linked by a ‘Portico’ - an elevated roof covering a circulation space with wash basins. This project demonstrated Pureablue capacity to develop packages of Pureablue products to satisfy particular projects. Our extensive industry experience allows us to evolve holistic overviews of a particular projects requirements, and develop “fit for purpose” designs and building outcomes.
