| CONFIGURATION:
An FR-2 building containing 2 x AS1428.1 Disabled Access compliant unisex booths with a 10 000L CWT Collection well with Anti-Surcharge-System (ASS)
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
One of seven buildings of similar architecture for Ipswich City council. The site was an urban park adjacent to the Brisbane River and was within the 1 in 40 year flood level. No sewer services were available for the site.
The Ipswich region has a poor type of soil requiring a pad of controlled fill to be placed beneath the understructure of the building and the floor slabs are engineering certified with a Form 15.
The park contained a picnic area and children’s playground and in compliance with Crime Prevention Through Environment Design (CPTED), a design guideline Pureablue recommends to be implemented in their designs, specifies that all toilet booths open onto public space - no female/male subdivision within the building - hence the booths all open on to public space.
OUR UNIQUE SOLUTION:
A modified CountrystyleCS3 building (FR-2) – for two disabled access complaint booths, was mounted on a 10 000L CWT collection well with additional support columns.
The front and rear buildings featured our new and very smart looking, laser cut grill system.
The Anti-Surcharge-System was a unique solution to prevent solid waste and toilet paper from back-flowing from the collection well out of the pedestal in the event of flooding. Ahead of a flood warning a council officer locks the booths and rotates an externally mounted bar 90 degrees into a closed position that blocks off the pedestal openings. The bar can be locked in both the open and closed position and all hardware is located under the building with no access by vandals.
